EFT Tapping

(What is EFT?)

TL;DR

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), or "tapping," is a fast, effective, evidence-based technique that calms the nervous system, lowers anxiety, and rewires unhelpful emotional patterns. It combines modern psychology with acupressure — like acupuncture, but without needles.

Use it to reduce fear, manage stress, and feel more grounded in your body and mind.

What is EFT?

EFT is a body–mind technique where you tap gently on acupressure points on the face, hands, and upper body while focusing on emotions, thoughts, or sensations that feel stuck. It helps shift your internal state — physically and emotionally — often in just a few minutes.

It’s simple, safe, and works surprisingly well. Whether you’re facing a big wave, a big life moment, or just a rough day — tapping helps you reset and respond from a place of calm and clarity.

The Science

EFT works directly with your nervous system. When we tap, it sends calming signals to the brain — especially the amygdala, the part responsible for our fear response. Studies show EFT lowers cortisol (the stress hormone), helps rewire neural pathways, and improves emotional regulation.

Over 100 peer-reviewed studies have shown EFT to be effective for things like anxiety, PTSD, depression, and more. It's even been used in hospitals and by therapists and coaches worldwide.

This is modern neuroscience in action — helping you feel safe, calm, and in control.

The Woo

EFT also comes from the world of Energy Psychology, drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine. In that lens, tapping helps clear disruptions in your body’s energy system, restoring flow and balance.

"The cause of all negative emotion is a disruption in the body's energy system." — Gary Craig (Founder of EFT)

Science is still catching up to fully explain how energy, emotions, and the nervous system intertwine — but we don’t need to fully understand it to see that it works.

What Does EFT Tapping Look Like?

During a session, we tap with our fingertips on specific points (like the side of the hand, eyebrows, under the eyes, collarbone, etc.) while gently talking through what’s coming up. It’s collaborative and intuitive — no forced sharing, no pressure.

You can use EFT on your own, or work with a practitioner to go deeper and safely process big emotions or past experiences.

EFT: 1:1 vs Group vs Solo

  • 1:1 sessions are personalised, focused, and go deeper. You get direct support and insight tailored to what’s coming up.

  • Group tapping is powerful too — it’s connective, supportive, and helps you feel less alone. It works even if the topic isn’t yours, thanks to something called “Borrowing Benefits.”

  • Solo tapping is a brilliant daily tool. Once you know how, you can use it anytime you need a reset.

You don’t have to choose just one. Many clients do all three.
